Two-color lacquer (Laccaria bicolor) – a fungus belonging to the genus Laccaria (Lakovitsy) and the family Hydnangiaceae (Gidnangiev).

Famaritana ivelany

The spore powder of bicolor lacquers is characterized by a light purple color, and the fruiting body of the fungus has a classic shape, and consists of a stem and a cap. The spores of the fungus have a broadly elliptical or spherical shape, their entire surface is covered with microscopic spines about 1-1.5 microns high. The fungal hymenophore is represented by a lamellar type, consists of thick and sparsely located plates that adhere to the surface of the stem and have a light pink (in ripe mushrooms – mauve) color. The surface of the plates of the described fungus may be serrated.

Mushrooms of this species have light, slightly fibrous flesh, which has no aroma and taste. True, some mushroom pickers note that the pulp of a two-colored lacquer may have a weak rare or sweetish mushroom aroma, and it tastes good. It is similar in color to the surface of the fruiting body, but may be darker at the base of the stem.

The cap of a two-color lacquer is characterized by a flat-conical shape, a light brown or pink surface color, and is dry. Its diameter varies between 1.5-5.5 cm, and the shape of young fruiting bodies is hemispherical. Gradually, the cap opens, becoming flat, sometimes has a depression in the center or, conversely, a small tubercle. About a third of its surface is translucent, has visible stripes. In the central part, the cap of the two-colored lacquer is covered with small scales, and along the edges it is fibrous. In mature mushrooms of this species, the color of the cap is more often red-brown or orange-brown, sometimes it can cast a pinkish-lilac tint. Young mushrooms are characterized by a brown cap, which also has a mauve tint.

The mushroom leg has a fibrous structure and the same pinkish surface color as that of the cap. From top to bottom, it slightly expands, but in general it has a cylindrical shape. The thickness of the stem of the described species of mushrooms is 2-7 mm, and in length it can reach 4-8.5 (in large mushrooms – up to 12.5) cm. Inside – made, often – with cotton pulp, outside – orange-brown color, with stripes. The top of the stem often has a purplish-brown color with a pinkish tinge. At its base there may be a slight pubescence, characterized by lilac-amethyst flowers.

Vanim-potoana sy toeram-ponenana Grebe

Two-color lacquer (Laccaria bicolor) is widespread on the territory of the Eurasian continent, and is often found in North Africa. For its growth, this fungus chooses areas in forests of mixed and coniferous types, prefers to grow under coniferous trees. Very rarely, but still, this type of mushroom is found under deciduous trees.

Edibility

Mushroom lacquer bicolor is conditionally edible and is characterized by very low quality. According to studies, the content of arsenic is increased in the composition of the fruiting bodies of this fungus.

Two-color lacquers (Laccaria bicolor) have two similar types:

1. Large lacquer (Laccaria proxima). It differs in plates without shades of lilac, does not have an edge at its base, is characterized by longer spores, the dimensions of which are 7.5-11 * 6-9 microns.

2. Pink lacquer (Laccaria laccata). Its main difference is a smooth cap, on the surface of which there are no scales. The color of the fruit body does not have lilac or purple hues, and fungal spores are more often characterized by a spherical shape.
