Biography of Fedor Konyukhov
In the fishing village of the Zaporozhye region, on December 12, 1951, a boy Fedya was born. The whole world will learn about him in the future. He spent all his childhood on the Azov coast.
There were many children in their family. Mother was in charge of the house, and father was a hereditary fisherman. Fedya adored the sea, often went fishing with his father and wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.
The guy dreamed of sea travel. He learned to swim and dive, tempered himself, managed a sailing ship and a rowboat. The father talked a lot about the war to his children, instilled in them love for their homeland and taught them to value their honor.
After school, he graduated from college and became an incrustor carver. Realizing that his life could not exist without the sea, he entered the Odessa sailor and received a navigator’s diploma.
But the development of the maritime profession did not end there, Konyukhov learned to be a ship mechanic, graduating from an Arctic school in Leningrad. His spiritual world also required knowledge, and he completed a course of study at the Theological Seminary in the same city on the Neva.

Fedor’s first trip was across the Sea of Azov on an ordinary rowing boat. In 1966 he crossed it successfully. And at twenty-six years old, he became the organizer of a yacht trip in the Pacific Ocean, in its northern part. The travelers repeated the route of the famous Bering. In Fedor, the makings of a researcher were laid, he was interested in absolutely everything.
Having visited Kamchatka, Sakhalin and the Commander Islands, the traveler studied the life of the local population, traditions, adopted their experience of survival in extreme areas.
Before setting off on a campaign to explore and conquer the North Pole, Konyukhov on skis, under the cover of the polar night, walked to an inaccessible point of the far north.
1990 was marked for the traveler by the polar transition in 72 days to the North Pole, reaching it. He made his old dream come true!
1995 is remembered for the successful solo expedition of Konyukhov to the South Pole. It was he who hoisted the Russian flag there. With this journey, he also helps doctors in the study of the physical as well as the mental state in extreme climates. During his life, Konyukhov made three trips around the world.
Father Fyodor is a very versatile traveler. In addition to hiking the seas and oceans, participating in expeditions along land routes, he conquers mountain peaks. Was on Everest twice. In 160 days, he swam across the Pacific Ocean in a rowboat. It was an unprecedented solo sailing event.
Konyukhov is considered the best traveler. He went through about fifty expeditions in various directions. Conquered all mountain peaks around the world for five years. In his arsenal is also a round the world travel in a hot air balloon. For this Fedor was awarded the title of “Pilot of the Year”.
Creation
The traveler and the priest are creative individuals. He writes works about impressions from expeditions. He also composes music and poetry for organ performance. As an artist, Konyukhov takes part in various exhibitions, both at home and abroad.
Fedor starred in the documentary film “Without Baikal”. The film tells about people who care for nature and want to save it.
In 2010 he was ordained a priest in a church in his homeland. He was also awarded an order for his work for the benefit of the our country Orthodox Church.

Fyodor Filippovich lives in a second marriage with Irina Konyukhova. His wife is a Doctor of Laws and holds a professorship. They have a son, Nikolai.
The family has two older children of Fedor from his first marriage: son Oscar and daughter Tatyana. Oscar followed in his father’s footsteps and also goes in for sailing and travel. The Konyukhov family also has five grandchildren. Konyukhov’s height is 1.80 m, the zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
