In summer, it’s impossible to ignore tomatoes. They are everywhere: in gardens, on market stalls and supermarkets. They are even sold on the roadsides, ready for producers. Be careful, however, to always check the origin!

Choosing the right tomatoes:

The tomato is a fruit whose full season is in full swing from May and which continues, for some species until October, before the first frosts. July is therefore the ideal time to enjoy delicious tomatoes that you choose juicy or fleshy according to your tastes. A quality tomato should be treated as little as possible. So, if you are not lucky enough to have tomatoes in your garden, choose tomatoes from organic farming or sustainable agriculture. Choose tomatoes that still have their stems like the cluster tomato or their stalk. This criterion is a sign of freshness and is fundamental because thanks to it, the fruits picked continue to draw the energy they need. Be sure to choose very red tomatoes, without stain, without bangs or cuts.

Store your tomatoes well:

The tomato is a fragrant and sweet fruit, which deserves to be consumed quickly after its picking to benefit from its vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Ideally, place your tomatoes in a basket or fruit basket and store them for 3 to 4 days at room temperature. Consider adding a net on top to prevent insects from biting them. It is, however, a fragile fruit. So be careful not to squeeze the tomatoes too tightly together or with other fruits or vegetables.
